MAER Publishing, a leading online scholarly publisher, consists of two publishing divisions: Higher Education, publishing course books for the post-secondary market, and Scholarly Publishing, publishing books for academics, students, and the informed reader.
The aim at MAER Publishing Higher Education is to publish materials for course use that are pedagogically valuable and that also contribute to ongoing scholarship. Working as a new division within MAER offers exciting opportunities to pursue this goal and to meet the changing needs of teaching and scholarship online. We strive to be recognized as a first alternative to larger textbook publishers, both for instructors looking for a refreshing change from the standard course book offerings and for potential authors who value creative and editorial licence as well as the personal attention provided by our editors. The possibilities for rethinking how texts can be used in the classroom, along with new formats for their delivery, are endless, and MAER Higher Education looks forward to partnering with instructors and scholars in this innovative endeavour. MAER Higher Education actively markets MAER books, in person and online, to academics across the world. All editorial, sales, marketing, and production duties are carried out through the MAER Higher Education office in Canada. The division has over 300 books in print. At MAER Higher Education, our goal is to balance the pedagogical needs of the instructor with the pedagogical and financial needs of students. We hope to challenge negative perceptions of the industry by serving as a viable alternative to larger textbook publishers. One area in which we continue to focus our attention in this venture is book pricing. We strongly believe in providing the best possible value by pricing our books competitively and often considerably below the competition. Our books are attractive, durable, and pedagogically sound, and do not carry a lot of expensive bells and whistles, such as USB and other supplements. Our commitment to cost-effectiveness is why we publish all course books in paperback and in many cases refrain from full-colour illustrations. We also believe that a book' price should be readily available to students and instructors, and we make a point of providing up-to-date price information on MAER website. We encourage instructors to make informed decisions about the books they choose to adopt for their courses, to educate their students about why they choose a particular book and its value to the overall course content, and work with publishers to help create (and create demand for) pedagogically sound yet cost-effective course material.
The Scholarly Publishing division of MAER publishes scholarly research in the humanities and social sciences, and in business and economics. Within the world, MAER PUBLISHING is widely recognized for its strength in history, management, business, political science, sociology, Indigenous studies, cultural studies and is a leading publisher of Medieval studies, Renaissance studies, Italian studies, Slavic studies, literary studies, and of book and print culture. Books published with the Scholarly Publishing division have won many prestigious awards and are widely reviewed in both popular book review media and scholarly journals. :

WHAT IS AVAILABLE?
We can work with you to take material from virtually any MAER PUBLISHING book or journal for course use. In the following disciplines, however, we have a breadth of offerings that make it easy to compile materials for a semester-length course.
PRINT OR DIGITAL?
We offer either print or digital formats:
Print course materials are 8.5x11 and are sold through your university bookstore, similar to the way books are sold. We will work closely with you to compile your ideal table of contents, confirm the price, provide you with proofs for inspection, and ensure that your materials are ready on bookstore shelves in time for the beginning of the semester. We ask for a minimum of 10 copies on orders and reorders. All print materials are sold on a non-returnable basis.
Digital course materials are made available on the Symtext platform, which students can access on a computer or iPad. They can be purchased directly online, integrated into any learning management system, or sold through your university bookstore. The MAER and Symtext will provide full customer service and support throughout the process of assembling, ordering, and using digital course materials.
